STRING COURSE
The woodland area to the
south-west of the main start lends itself well to planning a string course. When
I first visited the area in early June, the biggest unknown was how much more
the brambles and nettles would grow across the woodland paths. In the event, the
nettles weren’t too bad and the brambles weren’t too fierce but needed a
trim on one path in particular.
Our initial course felt quite long
so I did a trial run with my daughters Jennifer and Nicola. This suggested that
the run times would be about right. Controller Tim thought the course was about
the maximum length too but reviewing the run times I don’t think we over
stretched anyone too much. The main disadvantage of the distance was the time
taken to unwind the string and then wind it all back again afterwards.
Thank you to my wife, Susan, for support throughout and particularly for
removing obstacles from the course and help winding in the string. Thank you to
Jennifer and Nicola for choosing the control pictures, manning the start and
finish and advice throughout.
