DISTRICT EVENT
including SE Veterans championships and a family competition
WHITE DOWNS
2 DECEMBER 2007

Terrain: Part of the North Downs ridge, as used for our National Event earlier this year. Paths muddy and slow, forest much nicer. Longer courses will cross a road which although not busy carries some fast traffic.

Getting there: Parking close to the event is limited, please SHARE LIFTS if at all possible. We have overflow parking arranged, and a minibus to transport you to and from it, but we expect you would all prefer to be parked close to the event.
The main event car park is in Stoneyrock Lane at TQ124504. Please come to this car park, but be prepared to be directed elsewhere. Please come ready to drop your passengers so that our minibus need only transport drivers. Single occupancy cars will be redirected earlier than full cars!

Parking is only permitted in proper car parks, however tempting parking on the roadside verge may be, please don't as the landowner forbids it. Our last resort overflow is a National Trust car park charging £2.50 to non-members, otherwise parking is free.

The main car park will be signposted from the traffic lights on the A246 at Effingham (TQ118532) via Beech Avenue and Ranmore Common Road. Those with maps or SatNav may find alternative routes, but are recommended to finish their journey by approaching the car park from Ranmore Common Road (to the south) so as to avoid the extremely narrow and twisty High Barn Road.

Regretably there is no convenient public transport for pedestrians, although energetic cyclists will find several railway stations within range.

Map: Created by Mike Elliot for the February 2007 National Event. 1:10,000 for all courses. Courses overprinted. Maps are water resistant. If you want a bag please bring your own. Maps are A3 in size.

Families competition:

Small prize for the first family of four or more relations, each running an appropriate course. No need to belong to the same, or indeed any, club. The "first" family will be calculated on the basis of a points system relating to the age, gender, selected course, and speed of each participant. Please fill in a form at Registration to indicate your eligibility.

Punching: All courses will be using SportIdent electronic punching (hire charge £1).

Facilities: Toilets will be provided.
Squash at the Finish.

Dogs / horses: Dogs welcome, under control at all times, in the main car park and the competition area, but not in one of the overflow car parks (a school). If bringing a dog, please arrive early before the main car park fills.
Please be aware that the area is used by dog-walkers and horse-riders and show the usual consideration and caution.
